We had a 3 bedroom rambler in Kirkland from 1968 and too many kids to fit them all in. So we desperately needed more bedrooms and hired Deanna from Dansk Design to draw plans for a new addition. She quickly came up with several suggestions and we worked with her to decide on the option we wanted. During the design process she was very open to our input and constraints such as finances and time. We ended up adding 400sqft (2 rooms). She was very professional and both the contractor and the city mentioned how great the drawings were compared to many they see. Getting permits based on the plans required no additional effort. The contractor who had done additions before, mentioned how every little construction detail was well thought through unlike some cases they had experienced before. No guessing or improvising when building the structure. Deanna also took care of the engineers for us and got all the calculations sorted out. This large project was definitely made a lot easier by having such great drawings and we love the final result.
Deanna at DANSK DESIGN has been ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! She is practical while still creative. She provided us with SO many options for our remodel that we had never even considered. On top of that, she was far more reasonably priced than an architect, which is NOT needed for most remodels. Her recommendations have so far fallen completely in-line with our limited budget, according to the many bids we received from contractors. Deanna is VERY detailed oriented and knowledgeable about many things, including the practicality of design, pitfalls of construction, remodels, and permitting concerns. Deanna was able to see the "whole picture" and Deanna offered us valuable advice regarding budget, scheduling etc. We would recommend Deanna with DANSK DESIGN to any of our friends, family or anyone looking for a great designer. Best of luck with your up-coming project!!!

The following are publicly posted reviews of Dansk Design on houzz.com:
My husband and I hired Deanna to design a single story addition for our home in 2017. This addition included a family room, dining area and master bedroom. Throughout the entire planning process, Deanna was professional and thorough. She always worked efficiently without sacrificing quality or attention to detail. She responded to all of our questions and messages promptly.
During the design stage of our project, she developed several plans that met our goals and included our wish list items. She also provided plans that included ideas for future projects.
Deanna was extremely supportive and knowledgeable as we reached the permit stage of our project. She helped us navigate several tasks the city of Kirkland requires to obtain building permits. She suggested engineers and surveyors who were able to complete these tasks in a timely manner.
We are grateful for her hard work and would happily hire her again for future projects.
Deanna Mortensen, owner of Dansk Design, recently created the designs for our craftsman-style kitchen remodel. We have not yet completed our project, but we've been very happy with Deanna's work. She is practical and committed to creating functional spaces for us that are also beautiful and reflective of our needs. She spent a lot of time helping us figure out the best flow for our kitchen, given that we cook a ton, have young kids and entertain a lot. She was very resourceful when it came to eco-conscious products /finishes/appliances, and always shared different pricing options, offering many ideas for keeping the price down. Deanna was extremely responsive to emails and phone calls, which is important to us. And to top it off, Deanna's fees are incredibly reasonable.
Dansk Design came out to see how I could redesign my kitchen. Deanna was wonderful and not only arrived on time, but listened carefully to my concerns and wishes for how I would like my kitchen to function. She went above and beyond my expectations by providing me with several plans, at different price points, of how my kitchen could be redesigned. I look forward to having my new Dansk Design kitchen soon!

Our family was growing bigger and we were needing more space and functionality out of our 1,200 square foot home. We had ideas and visions but needed help. Deanna was recommended to us by friends who had recently had her remodel their home.
We started the design process knowing that we needed more space but we were not exactly sure the best way to get there. When we met with Deanna she had come prepared with ideas and listened to our wants. She spent a lot of time talking through the project and provided us with multiple layouts that were within our budget. She was extremely helpful with contractor and vendor recommendations as well. We ultimately went with a layout that removes all of our interior walls and relocates the rooms to increase flow and function. Additionally, the plans added approximately 800 square feet of living space which includes a master suite, office, and half bath. We are beginning the process of hiring a contractor and hope to start construction soon. We have been very happy with everything Deanna has done for us!
